Without an understanding of local impacts, it's hard to care. That's why John Muir took government officials into the Sierras; that's the motivation behind the movement to get folks outside and into green spaces. We need to know a thing in order to care about it. A global phenomena only spurs action for most people when its effects on what they care about become apparent.
