South African Youth Explore Art and Nature

In January of 2011, the Human Impacts Institute partnered with youth from Khulani Children’s Shelter to explore their community of Durban, South Africa. During the month, Hii staff and volunteers worked with children on expressing themselves on film, in collage, exploring the shore, and culminating in a trip to the Durban Natural History Museum and Art Museum of Durban. Youth aged three to 23 participated in all activities and truly inspired all around them with their enthusiasm and creativity. The Hii team is looking forward to continuing to work with these inspiring youth into the future.

Thanks to support from Ecojot and UPS, the Human Impacts Institute was able to bring notebooks for all of the youth of Khulani Shelter for use during the 2011 school year.
