FREE HII Workshops at East River State Park, Saturday, October 15th

On October 15th, Human Impacts Institute (HII) will be hosting free, hands-on workshops at East River State Park, Brooklyn. Come join us in exploring the waterfront and local environmental issues throughout the day! The schedule of events is below:

Location: East River State Park, 90 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11211

Take the L train to Bedford Avenue

Date: Saturday, October 15th, 2011

Time: 11am-4pm

Cost: FREE

Schedule of Events:

11am-1pm: HII will provide water sampling and testing of the East River. Participants will test the river’s ammonia, pH, and nitrate levels.

1pm-3pm: HII will offer a tree stewardship demonstration. Attendees will have the chance to learn and engage in proper tree care techniques.

3pm-4pm: Towards the end of the workshop, HII will begin creative outreach/environmental interviews. Community members will be filmed on their ideas about the local environment and what they do to take action!

Throughout the day, HII will provide sign-up sheets for their mailing list, FREE water quality kits, and a greater knowledge of NYC’s urban environment!
