Breaking Ice: The Making of Cracks In the Ice, 2025

Film, 5:00 minutes

This film follows photographer Jason Lindsey as he creates his Cracks in the Ice series, shaped by his young son’s question about what the future will look like in a changing climate. Through the imagery of fractured glaciers, the film reflects on uncertainty, fragility, and the human impulse to make sense of loss. Moving between personal narrative and environmental observation, it explores how art becomes a way to respond when clear answers are no longer possible. Rather than offering resolution, the film holds space for both grief and possibility, suggesting that meaning can be shaped even in moments of rupture.

Jason Lindsey is a filmmaker and visual storyteller whose work bridges environmental narratives with intimate human experience. With a background in photojournalism, art direction, and commercial directing, he brings a strong visual sensibility to his documentary practice. His films have been featured at festivals including the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, Fresh Coast Film Festival, and Wildlife Conservation Film Festival, where his work has received multiple recognitions, including Best Documentary at the World Water Film Festival.
