Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a youth-led initiative that helps dedicated young climate activists engage in climate awareness and innovative ideas.
ABOUT THE YAC
IThe Human Impacts Institute (HII) Youth Advisory Council (YAC) helps dedicated young climate activists engage in climate awareness and innovative ideas. HII is a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading awareness about climate change though art and social interactions. Our mission is to establish an inclusive, international youth network that will foster creative climate solutions.
n the YAC, you will also master important skills that you can use outside of environmental justice: managing tasks, public speaking, and leadership. By collaborating with board, advisory, and staff members, you will learn about the inner workings of a nonprofit. We also encourage any new members to propose changes to previous decisions.
The YAC:
1) Has produced a podcast on environmental justice which analyzes the intersection of environmental justice with aspects of social justice,
2) Is working on a guidebook to help young people learn how to lobby effectively for climate policy, and
3) Is writing a children's book about the effects of climate change.
Any questions about the YAC or the application process should be directed to youth@humanimpactsinstitute.org. Applications are due by noon on October 15, 2021.

THE YOUTH CLIMATE CHAT
Our HII Youth Advisory Council just launched their new podcast, The Youth Climate Chat. In their first episode, they tackle the complex issues of environmental justice and extreme weather, and how these effects of our social institutions go hand-in-hand.
We are so inspired by their leadership and you will be too. They're young, they're here, and they're ready to change the world!
