CARBON: Change the Channel, 2025

Assemblage on acrylic, 30 × 20 in

CARBON: Change the Channel presents a layered and fragmented image of a world shaped by industrialization, media, and late capitalism. Through assemblage and collage, the work brings together visual references that blur the boundary between natural and artificial environments, suggesting how ecological destruction is often obscured within systems of consumption and spectacle. By juxtaposing imagery associated with progress, desire, and environmental collapse, the piece reflects on collective complacency in the face of the climate crisis and mass extinction. The work does not offer resolution, but instead creates a space of tension, asking viewers to confront the contradictions between lived reality and the narratives that sustain it.

Samantha Heydt is a multidisciplinary artist working across collage, installation, film, and sound. Her practice explores themes of ecological crisis, media culture, and the mythologies of progress, using layered visual language to examine the intersections of environment, capitalism, and social systems.
