No. 7 & 9 from The Blue Fig Series / Mohammad Rakibul Hasan

Dhaka, Bangladesh

Photography, 14 × 20 in

This photographic work from The Blue Fig series documents the lived realities of climate change in coastal Bangladesh, where rising sea levels, salinity, and extreme weather reshape both landscape and daily life. Centered around the Sundarbans region, the images capture communities navigating displacement, health risks, and economic precarity, while remaining deeply tied to land and water that now threaten their survival. By bringing together environmental transformation and human experience, the work challenges the abstraction of climate discourse, positioning it instead as an immediate and unequal crisis. Through intimate visual storytelling, the series foregrounds resilience, dignity, and the urgent need to recognize climate change as both an ecological and a human rights issue.

Mohammad Rakibul Hasan is a Bangladeshi visual storyteller whose work focuses on climate change, migration, and social inequality. Through documentary photography and long-form visual narratives, he highlights the experiences of communities on the frontlines of environmental crises, emphasizing the human dimensions of global climate challenges.
