Prophetic Endogamy presents a surreal and unsettling image of a cow consuming its own teat, while a woman rests beneath it in a state of stillness. Drawing from the biblical story of Pharaoh’s dream in the Book of Genesis, where cycles of abundance and famine foretell crisis, the work reinterprets this narrative as an allegory for climate collapse. The self-consuming cow becomes a symbol of imbalance and isolation, reflecting systems that turn inward rather than sustain collective life. By invoking prophecy, the work asks what it would mean to listen to contemporary “oracles,” such as scientific knowledge, and to act before the crisis becomes irreversible. The tension between warning and inaction positions the work as both reflection and caution.
Noah Trapolino is a painter whose work engages with symbolic and narrative imagery to explore themes of crisis, belief, and human behavior. Drawing from historical and mythological references, his practice examines contemporary issues through allegory, creating works that challenge viewers to confront uncomfortable realities.
